Teenager Sarah Ikumu takes to the stage with her version of Jennifer Hudson’s And I Am Telling You, with Simon loving her so much, he reaches for that Golden Buzzer!
Before she started singing Simon Cowell seemed cynical as she walked shyly onto the stage in a beige jumper and jeans, while her parents and sister watched from the crowd.
Both he and the waiting audience looked far from optimistic as he described the track as one of the “biggest songs in the world”.
But her flawless performance of the emotional epic brought the auditorium at London’s Palladium theatre to its feet as Cowell hit the button to automatically propel her to the competition’s semi-final.
Out of absolutely nowhere, this incredible voice builds and builds to deliver arguably the best performance of the night in BGT’s first episode and became Simon’s Golden Buzzer act.
The 15-year-old might be in Year 11 and studying for her GCSEs, but in this Saturday’s episode she delivers a staggering rendition of the song made famous by Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls
Good luck in the future Sarah Ikumu…. you are a superstar already!!
Mel and Jamie, mother and son, sing together.. the result is amazing !!
They may have only been singing together for a couple of weeks, but it’s mother and son duo Mel and Jamie’s time to shine with their version of “Say Something”.
She is a very proud mother 🙂 and she has all the reasons to be….
Thirteen-year-old Lukas Janisch wowed the judges with his performance and me too…..
Lukas started to sing because of karaoke, so thank you, who invented the karaokemachine.
He is very skillful with his voice and is able to control it so well. You will not believe how well he does on his first blind audition ever. The coaches were so amazed, they could barely contain themselves. This kid deserves to be a big star!
Lukas not only plays the piano flawlessly, he can also sing with an extremely powerful voice. This is not a performance you want to miss so make sure you watch all the way to the end.
